Amber Rose to appear in the movie Dancing for the stars in season 23
Hindsight is always 20/20, and FLOTUS realized she was happy she appeared on the screaming host’s show during Barack’s second term.
“You know, that’s when I thought, ‘This is crazy.’ But again, it resonated. It was something that was successful. Maybe if I’d done that in my first year, it might have been too much,” she mused, “but I think by the time we did this in the second term, people knew 7me. They understood the approach. It allows me to take a few more risks than in the first term, when people were just getting to know who I was.”
As for what made her and her team tap into the pop culture well, Obama credits her life before the White House. “I view myself as being the average woman,” she tells Variety. “While I am first lady, I wasn’t first lady my whole life. I’m a product of pop culture. I’m a consumer of pop culture, and I know what resonates with people. I know what they’ll get a chuckle out of and what they think is kind of silly. And whenever my team approaches me with ideas and concepts, we’re usually like, ‘Is this really funny? Are people going to understand it?'”
Muva’s got moves! Skillzah News has learned that Amber Rose is joining Dancing With the Stars for its upcoming 23rd season. Multiple sources tell us that the talk show host/model/actress/author/activist is the latest star to sign on to the reality competition in the hopes of winning the coveted Mirrorball Trophy.
ABC does not comment on casting decisions for the show, but the full lineup will be revealed in an official announcement on Good Morning America on Aug. 30.
As skillzah News previously reported, other celebs in talks for this season include reigning Bachelorette JoJo Fletcher and former Wizards of Waverly Place and The Fosters star Jake T. Austin.
Although Olympic golden girl Simone Biles has been approached to join the cast as well, she told E! News last week that she didn’t think scheduling would work out for this season thanks to her gymnastics tour obligations.
“I would love to do Dancing with the Stars, but so far we have a three month tour after this Olympics,” Simone exclusively told E! News’ Zuri Hall at the P&G Family Home in Rio. “I’m not sure if I’ll have time.”
The 19-year-old gymnast, who won four gold medals and a bronze in the Rio Olympics, says we’ll just have to wait for season 24 in 2017. “I would really love to do it in the spring if that’s possible,” she added. She’ be in good company, considering her teammate Aly Raisman competed in season 16, Shawn Johnson won season eight and Nastia Liukin competed in season 20.
Dancing With the Stars season 23 premieres Monday, Sept. 12 at 8 p.m. on ABC.
